Post menopause, how do women go about losing weight safely without pills but with aches & pains?

Eat lots of veggie and fruits and nuts..go walking and do some light work outs. do this slowly everyday and gradually add more to it so you will not get any aches and pains..but lots of walking is good for you. I have to take thyroid meds so that make it even harder for me to lose weight but I'm trying..oh and don't forget to drink lots of water..=)
