Why didn't you protest the Patriot Act?

Americans have the right to protest anything is illegal or immoral. But the Patriot Act is both, but none of these thousands (not millions) who showed up at the Capitol were nowhere to be seen when this Act that allows the government to eavesdrop on your phone conversations was ped.
