If a crocodile could reach 4,000 pounds and battled a 4,000 pound hippo...Do you think it would win?
A 4,000 pound saltwater crocodile, if it lived in Africa, would bite a hippo in half in a matter of seconds. What most people do not realize is the average weight of a Nile crocodile is 500 pounds. All people look at is the maximum of about 2,000 and not its typical weight. A 500 pounder would be about 12 feet and the other Nile crocodiles often work together in tandem to take out zebras and other prey. Hippos are more powerful than these guys who concentrate mainly on the babies and a lack of concentration by the parents.
